An amethyst remembrance

Me with my mom, Eleanor Carter Brubaker,
1936-2011

I held a jewel in my fingers
And went to sleep.
The day was warm, the winds were prosy
I said: “’Twill keep.”

I woke and chid my honest fingers—
The gem was gone;
And now an amethyst remembrance
Is all I own.

– Emily Dickinson

  3. Oh Susan, although I don't know the circumstances, I can only surmise. You probably do not remember meeting me in the Paducah Museum gift shop during the 2010 quilt show, I most certainly remember meeting your Mom and you. It was one of the most heartwarming and pleasant meetings I've ever encountered. I send you and your family all my heartfelt love.
