Max and the pincushion
Our cat, Max, has this thing for my pincushion. After he’s walked all over whatever I’m working on at the moment, and I pick him up and move him to his comfy spot in my studio (an old bassinet filled with snuggly blankets), he gets very passive-aggressive with me. He’ll jump back up on my cutting table and take out his frustrations on my pincushion. He hasn’t swallowed a pin yet, although he sometimes flings them onto the floor. What a character!

Thank you so much for sharing this - I had to laugh out loud when the first pin went to its demise, then called my boyfriend over to watch it as well! No idea why a cat would possibly want to do this, unless he wants to play with the pin cushion ball, which he doesn't seem to, or he just wants your attention :)
ReplyDeleteIt's entertaining eitherway :c) Thanks!
I really think it is his way of telling me off, after I've removed him from his favorite place to be... in the middle of whatever I'm working on. He is a very smart cat, but he has a bit of a vicious streak. I think he's mad that he's trapped in a cat body. When he was a kitten, and an inside cat, he used to just run up to us and bite our ankles -- hard. As soon as we started letting him roam (by installing a cat door), he was much better humored.
ReplyDeleteOh that was too funny! Are they the best helpers or what. I also have some challenging times with my two cats in my studio. I wouldn't trade it for the world.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Madeline does this to my pincushion also. I am scared to death she will swallow a pin so I'm always hiding the pincushion, but since she "flies" she keeps me on my toes. I don't feel she's telling me off, I think it's just something for her to do with her excess energy.
ReplyDeleteSuch a silly cat.
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny! Thank you for sharing this video. Don't you just love cats!
ReplyDeleteThe real trick is to get him to put them back in!!!
