Yep, it’s two more magazines! Both are published by Interweave. The first is the October/November 2011 issue of Quilting Arts, and the second is the Winter 2011 issue of Stitch.
If you read my blog because you love or make art quilts, there’s a pretty good chance that you also read Quilting Arts magazine, which is the best magazine out there dedicated to art quilting (in my humble opinion!). But you may not have checked out Stitch, which includes projects for modern sewers, such as garments, home decor items, and crafts. I simply love the Wool Petals Pillow on the cover! It is one of a bevy of projects in this issue made with wool felt.
Here’s your chance to win! Leave a comment after this post and tell me about your favorite quilting or sewing magazine. I’ll pull two names at random at 9 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 10, and send you each a magazine. AND THE WINNERS ARE: Claudia Becker (QA) and Kimberly (Stitch).

I do love quilting arts, so many wonderful projects and inspiration from art quilters. I was lucky enough to find copies at a thrift and I reread them, all the time. I really want to make time for myself this year and experiment with quilting and textile arts.

If I had to pick one it would be American Patchwork & Quilting.
ReplyDeleteIn Holland we have also nice quilting magazines, but most of them are traditional. So I love to win one of the art quilt magazines!

ReplyDeleteI live in Germany and there are not many quilting magazines here (at least not really interesting for me). The only one which I like to read from time to time is Patchwork Professional. It's focused on art quilts, there are photos from quilt shows, sometimes some interesting pattern. I have some archival issues of Quilting Art on DVDs, but buying regularly quilt magazines from US would be to expensive for me.
ReplyDeleteI recently bought some older copies of American Quilter magazine at a flea market and really have enjoyed them. I do like Quilting Arts, too! Thanks for the giveaway:)
ReplyDeleteWhile Quilter's Newsletter Magazine has been my favourite for a long time, I've been picking up Quilting Arts a lot from my guild's library and loving it. Thanks for the giveaway! I'd love to check out Stitch too.
ReplyDeleteI try to buy all of the ones that are in my grocery store as they come in. I really should just buy a subscription it would be cheaper.. but I love McCalls Quilting Magazine.

Thanks for the chance to win a copy of Quilting Arts and Stitch. I've watched QA on tv (until our local PBS cancelled all quilting shows) and receive their quilting daily emails. I do not have any subscriptions of my own, and read my mother's quilting magazines. Of those, Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting is the one I would pick. It's an easy read and usually gives me an idea or two.
ReplyDeleteQuilting Arts is my favorite but I don't have much time to try many of the ideas. I must say that I will never tire of holding magazines in my hand and turning real pages. Just call me old- fashioned! :)
ReplyDeleteBeverly
Quilting Arts has been my favorite since it started. I haven't had the opportunity to see Stitch yet, so it would be nice to win it.

I'm a Graphic Designer and Illustrator. I've dabbled in all sorts of arts and crafts, but never quilting. I do a bit of hand sewn applique stuff (ornaments, jewelry, hand and finger puppets etc), but I haven't been near a sewing machine in years. I just bought a used Singer.
ReplyDeleteFor a long time I have thought that quilting is something I would enjoy and perhaps have a knack for. My illustrations look a bit like figural folk art quilts. Collage is my favorite art medium. The way I collage paper is similar to the way quilters work with fabric. The color, pattern, texture, weight and even elasticity of the available materials inspire the design.
I haven't really looked at any quilting magazines. But I have found lots of great quilting information and inspiration online in crafting & dyi websites and blogs. I'm probably a fool want to jump from small hand sewn crafts straight to quilting, but such is my nature. My first attempts will probably be disastrous, but I'll learn from my mistakes.
I LOVE Stitch magazine I just discovered it a few weeks ago! I would love to win it!
ReplyDeletei love stitch magazine!
ReplyDeleteMy quilting arts subscription has lapsed. What a nice idea to gift these.
ReplyDeleteI love Quilting Arts....

My mom passed down her love of quilting and of QA magazine to me and I am passing the same to my daughter!
ReplyDeleteQuilting Arts is definitely my favorite sewing magazine - I love the mixed-media quilting ideas! I'm going to have to check out Stitch sometime though... :)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win these 2 great magazine issues. I quit ordering magazines several years ago due to the economy and am always greatful when a friend passes one on to me. The only magazine I still get and could not live without is my EGA quarterly Needlearts. I still enjoy looking at back issues for inspiration.

ReplyDeleteI think my favourite sewing magazine is Threads. It has the easiest to follow instructions and every magazine seems to touch on an a subject I have been researching or working on.
ReplyDeleteI recently picked up that very copy of Stitch at a bookstore. I loved it but hasd to put it back as the price was a bit more than I could justify at the time. (I think it is a 15$/issue magazine here in Canada) So winning a copy would be super fabulous!
I love Machine Quilting Unlimited magazine. (and Quilting Arts)! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI like stitch but I always find something I love in all the magazines. Too little time and too many wonderful magazines.

ReplyDeletei love Stitch magazine. thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have just got into quilting, I should have done so, so much earlier than I have as I used to watch my Grandmother as a child and always wanted to be like her. It's just taken me time to get going and as I thought as a child it looked great to do, and now I know how much fun it is.
