Celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr.

I was recently contacted by Allison Morris, who helped design a great graphic documenting the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. She had seen my 2011 post about King, and thought I’d be interested. Here is the graphic, which appears on  OnlineCollegeCourses.com

Today, I celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. with a few of my favorite quotes about King …

the pacifist:
“Wars are poor chisels for carving out peaceful tomorrows.”

the dreamer:
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

the optimist:
“Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.”

the social reformer:
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

the soul of a poet:
“Only in the darkness can you see the stars.”

  1. How moving to read these quotes. MLK would be so proud that an African American is beginning his second term in the White House! Thanks for sharing this.
