New Zealand Chook #2

I have been working on a series of small wholecloth painted pieces based on a photo I took of a chicken in New Zealand (where chickens are often called “chooks.”) This is #2, painted and stitched. The three I have completed are nearly identical except for differences in their background colors, which are all different shades of green. They are all about 7" square.

I am really liking these small pieces, and plan to do some more small ones based on photos I took of sheep! After that, I might do a big version of this chook.

Here are some detail shots:

  1. He really looks stunning against that background. I noticed that you are doing a workshop in RI. The group limits their member so impossible to get into their guild. With my memory, I do better with books now, then I can reread what I forget;)

  2. Rats! I'd love to meet you, Debbie! I don't teach much in New England... I'll be in Mass at ProChemical & Dye next month, though. Maybe someday!

  3. Oh my, he is stunning. Reminds me exactly of the pet rooster, "Roosty" I had as a child. Can't wait to see the sheep too.

  4. Where will the classes be held?
If it is in a store, I can always pop in at the end of a class to say hi.

    1. It's at the company headquarters in Fall River, Mass. I think you'd have to sign up for the class to get in the door. Info here:http://www.prochemicalanddye.com/product.php?productid=17748&cat=293&page=1

    1. I'd love for you to have a chook! I need them for another month or two (for something I can't talk about yet), but after that, I think I could part with one... yes, let's talk!

P.S. I'm working on a larger version (24" square), too, for ME!

I love it when you leave comments… Otherwise I feel like I'm just talking to myself! If you have time to write, please let me know what you think.
