Violets for my Mom, and off to Melbourne

Today is April 14, my mother’s birthday. She would have been 77 today. I always picked her violets in the springtime, and they became a kind of symbol for the love between us. She has been gone more than two years now, and I think about – and miss her – every day. Today, I am on my way to Australia to teach at the Australasian Quilt Convention in Melbourne. I have a feeling that if my mother were alive today, she’d have been sitting in the seat next to me!

I’ll be attempting to blog from Australia (wifi willing!), and will try to show you some of the convention, and of Melbourne. I hope you’ll come along!

  1. The violets are lovely Susan! I hope you have a great trip. Unfortunately I won't be there this year as I am not able to drive atm due to a knee arthroscope.

  6. Beautiful photo, and beautiful way to remember mom. My mom's favorite flower was an orchid. She's been gone three years, and on her birthday I purchased one. Now I hope I can keep it growing! Thanks for sharing. I hope you enjoy your trip.

  7. I know you'll do a wonderful job of documenting your trip for us to enjoy virtually! While you're mother may not physically present in the seat beside you, I know she's still with you in spirit every step of the way! We love our mothers forever!
    Have a great trip!
