I
have a Halloween project in Quilting Arts Gifts 2013-2014; it has just come out.
It includes several projects for Halloween, and many more for the
holidays and winter season.
There are more than 30 seasonal projects in this issue. You can find it on newsstands, quilt shops, or at the Quilting Arts online shop for $14.99.
I can’t wait for Halloween; it is my favorite holiday, and my birthday, to boot! Here are some close-up photos of my runner:
GIVE-AWAY!
To start the celebration, I’m giving away a copy of the magazine. Leave a comment after this post and tell me which holiday is your favorite, and why. I’ll pull one name at random at noon, Monday, Sept. 2.
Note #1: International readers are welcome to participate in this giveaway.
Note #2: If your comment does not show up right away, please don’t freak out. I now have to moderate/approve all comments, because I was getting a ton of Japanese porn spammers leaving comments on my blog! I’m a busy person, so it might now show up for a while, but I’ll approve it as soon as I can. I promise.
We have a winner: BillieBee (billiemick) has won the magazine. Thanks for participating, everyone!
I love Thanksgiving. The weather is so nice here in Georgia, no presents to buy and minimal decorations are needed. It is all about gathering together as a family, enjoying good food and very thankful for our many, many blessings.
ReplyDeleteHalloween is my very favorite holiday, I love the color changing outside, the fun that just is that holiday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to start the week! I think your husband's name was perfect. I like Halloween - but would have to pick Christmas because of the extended decorating season.

ReplyDeleteLove Halloween and spiders. I hope to do some new photographs of webs on my barbwire fences. Spiders at the barn are treated well , they eat all the bugs . I hope you enjoyed the Blue Moon this month.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE HALLOWEEN! AND SPIDERS!! They are so industrious and they weave such beautiful things. My friends think I'm weird but I think spiders are great and I think Halloween is more fun than Christmas :-)

Christmas is my favorite holiday. That's the one time of the year that I can depend on all of my children being home together! Thanks sew much for this chance to win. :-D
ReplyDeleteI love fall and winter for creating, both have lots of fun things to use in quilting. I do love Christmas though, I can make things for myself and lots of gifts, so I can create in all different styles too.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I've always over Halloween, I used to decorate my home up with all sorts of ghoulish friends early to enjoy them as long as possible. I just may have to do it again this year.
ReplyDeleteGreat table runner, have a wonderful birthday.
Christmas is my favorite holiday, but my daughter loves Halloween and decorates for it just like it is Christmas. I would love to have a copy of this magazine for your table runner pattern, my daughter and the grands would love it.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday is Halloween. It's a great time of year, here in New England, with lots of creativity and fun for both kids and adults. We had a great Halloween party for our kids one year with A "MUMMY" dance, ghoulish punch, a room with body parts and finally Capture the Flag with a monster.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is my favourite because all my family come home!!
ReplyDeleteChristmas - most definitely. A time of awe and wonder...I get to be a child again. Such love in each and every one. And now that I'm a grandmother x2 I can hardly wait to spoil those grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday is Christmas. I get to spoil my loved ones with gifts and food.
ReplyDeleteMa fête préférée est Noël, avec la neige et les montagnes. Meilleures salutations de Suisse
ReplyDeleteGreat piece! Love the details of the stitching. My favorite holiday is Christmas. I love the prep, the cookies, and making gifts.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love Fall. Last year I was in Maine and everyone, I mean everyone had potted Mums on their porch. It was quite interesting. I hope I will a copy of this magazine !!
ReplyDeleteChristmas is mine. Especially now that we have little grandchildren. It is so much fun to watch them.
ReplyDeleteI actually love July 4th. It's amazing to have family and friends over to our house and have my husband cook some really great barbeque southern style. Also I love the fireworks and a way of honoring our country.
ReplyDeleteOh I love Halloween it is my favorite. I love all the colors, the flavors and especially the excitement in the little ones coming to trick or treat. Plus Halloween is my grandson' birthday.
ReplyDeleteI love New Year as it is family celebration time for us. Of course on this side of the world it is also mid-summer with long warm summer evenings and lots of BBQs. I love your Halloween table runner and would love to make it one day. At present I am working on finishing the project I started with you at Taupo Symposium. Your class has inspired me to try new techniques, thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barbara... I'm glad it inspired you! Keep in touch; I'd love to see what you are doing!
DeleteHalloween was almost so much fun for me when the kids were little. I made so many costumes and they had a blast.
ReplyDeleteFavorite holiday is Christmas. I have a couple of grandsons that would love your table runner...too cute!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday is the holiday of Purim, which comes out in March. It's a little bit similar to Halloween in that people dress up in costumes, but that's where the similarity ends! It's also a celebration where families get together.
ReplyDeleteLove Thanksgiving...the meaning, the food and Autumn colors are my favorite
ReplyDeleteHard to choose between Thanksgiving and New Years . Thanksgiving is for family and New Years for a fresh start.
ReplyDeleteI like your name better! My favorite holiday is Christmas. I love dressing up the house and getting together with friends and family. My least favorite is Thanksgiving - too many years of working retail the day after....
ReplyDeleteIt's hard for me to pick one favorite holiday. I love the fall and Halloween projects, the Christmas wall hangings, ornaments, and gift making. Lately I've fallen in love with snowmen - I'm calling that holiday for January and February.
ReplyDeleteMary
I like your quilt and your name for it. Ever since I was a child, Thanksgiving has been my favorite holiday and it still is. I always love for family and friends to get together over a great meal.
ReplyDeleteGruesome? Not at all,its Halloween after all. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving:good food, good company and no pressure to find the perfect gift.
ReplyDeleteI love your runner! My favorite holiday is Christmas, for getting together with family and friends and for the true meaning of Christmas! Thanks for the chance to win the issue!
ReplyDeleteI had not even started thinking about holidays until I read your post.
ReplyDeleteI am not a sparkly person, but Christmas puts me in the sparkle mood. Snowflakes, real, crocheted, quilted, any which way.
I cannot wait to buy this issue now.
Thanks,
I enjoy Memorial Day! It's patriotic, it's a three day weekend, it's the beginning of summer and it frequently falls on my birthday! Your table runner is great!
ReplyDeleteI guess Christmas would be my favorite because it would be the one that my family would most apt to be home to visit.
ReplyDeleteThis is the second time I'm published in the same magazine as you are. I'm so honoured!
Your Table Topper is gorgeous, Holly!
DeleteI love Christmas, not so much the material part of it, but rather the spiritual and all the lights and family gatherings, etc. I put up trees all over the house so one can see them from any room - everything sparkles with lights and ornaments. The meals are simple, but the fun is everyone gathered around enjoying all the catching up and laughter.
ReplyDelete• • • I'm a bit selfish when it comes to my favorite holiday. That's because my birthday is an official holiday here. I haven't worked on my birthday for over 30 years now. Gifts are not required. What is required, is 'me' time to quilt or do whatever I want for the whole day. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with your give-a-way. Would love to have a copy.
Thank you so much! I'm so excited to win.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great visit and you are all looking so happy ...we sure do miss seeing you as often though
