Studio tour

Thought you might like a peek inside my studio. I cleaned it up a few weeks ago before starting on two new pieces, so it is tidier than usual! My studio was our guest bedroom until I painted it red and my mom stopped wanting to stay overnight with us (she claimed the red color made her feel “like she was sleeping in hell”) and I took it over about 10 years ago. It is 14' x 14', minus my husband’s closet, which we think was built in the sixties. (Our house is 100 years old this year, so it doesn’t have any closets that are original to the house.) As you will notice, I am not a minimalist. I have lots of little vignettes around my house, and lots of cool old stuff I love, and lots of collections to inspire me.

  1. Lovely!!! Its always fun to see where... others actually create! So how do you avoid the HSS, (Horizontal Surface Syndrome) or is that what you cleaned up with the recent tidy?

  2. I suffer from HSS, too, Beth! It's a constant battle. I always clean up before working on a big new project.

  4. What an inspiring place to sew. I love the tea cups, I collect tea cups myself and these are just so cheery. Quirky. Those old marmalade jars are beautiful too. I painted my kitchen red when I moved into my house. It wasn't a good move, too dark for the room. And unfortunately my color does look almost like hell but I do love when people get the shade and room right. It can be so beautiful. It works as a great backdrop for all your vignettes and quilts. Just lovely.
